Gingerbread Manor Childcare FAQ's....
Here are some questions that we get asked a lot! :)
Q: I noticed on your website that you do not list any open or close hours? What are your hours?
A: We are open when families require our services. When a family comes to see us for an interview we discuss the hours needed, and see if they can be accommodated. All shifts including evening, overnight, and early morning are considered. We are very flexible; don't count yourself out because your hours are "odd."
Q: Do you stat or civic holiday daycare?
A: Unfortunately we do not, holiday care is not something we currently offer.
Q: Do you allow parents to "come and see you in action" while the daycare is open? Or can we interview during daycare hours?
A: We understand your desire to ensure that your children will be safe while here with us. However, We do not allow any type of "drop ins" from perspective families, nor we do we interview during daycare hours. Because I am a home based daycare, the security of my family and current families is something I need to consider. Generally speaking daycare interviews are done in the evening, on a holiday, or on the weekend. Once you are enrolled here however, you are free to come and check on your child(ren) as you wish. As well I can give you a list of references that you are welcomed to check with.
Q: When is our daycare spot considered saved?
A: Your daycare spot is considered saved once ALL documents are returned signed, and filled out along with the cash, money order, or email money transfer in the amount of the deposit required for the type of care needed. We will continue interviewing for a suitable daycare family until such time all documents and monies are brought to the daycare.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Because we a home based daycare, and for the security of our clients and family, we do not give out our exact location. (Until interview) But, just so that you have a point of reference, we are located near Circle Drive and Preston Ave. South. We are a short drive to the University Of Saskatchewan, and 8th Street East; too we are near by Grasswoods Business Centre.
Q: Are there admission requirements at Gingerbread Manor Childcare?
A: When we meet to consider having your child join our family daycare, we'll share details with you about daily schedule, methods of discipline, plans for naps, meals, and organized playtimes. we'll ask for your input in regards to your child’s preferences, personality and current schedule so that we can plan the best way to integrate your child into the group. We do not discriminate in admissions based on race, creed, color, religion, gender, or national origin. We do, however, recognize that not every child will fit comfortably into our child care family, and for this reason may ask that we both continue our search for a suitable child care/daycare child match.
Q: Will my child be guaranteed a playmate of his/her own age?
A: As caregivers (my husband and I) we are often asked “will my child be guaranteed a playmate of his/her own age and of the same gender” The short answer is no. But, we can assure you that everyone has plenty to do and every child in our care is never left out or made to feel alone. Older children learn from younger and vise versa, we will never turn away a child based on age or gender. It is our focus to include everyone. We enroll based on matching parenting styles, learning philosophy etc. Sometimes play groups, playdates and things of this nature are used to compensate when a child may be the oldest or youngest of the group.
Q: When you say flexible hours what do you mean?
A: We recognize that not every one needs 7-5 daycare. Some family's may need 8-6. 9-6, etc. When a spot is open we try our best to meet your needs, as stated before we are open when families require our services, and all shifts are considered.
Q: What is spot sharing?
A: Because of ratio we as professional care providers are only allowed to have so many children with us (up to 8 school aged, infants, and toddlers) so for those who need part time care, we offer the ability to share your spot with another family....contact us for more details.
Q: Are you subsidized?
A: At this time we are not able to accommodate families who require that, however all government guidelines are met in regards to how many children are cared for, and we do give receipts for income tax purposes. As well we always "keep our ears to the ground" to ensure we are remaining competitive for the area. Also if you need assistance finding a daycare that is accepting families who are in need of subsidy we would be pleased to help you.
